Mr Macutkiewicz is a Consultant General, Hepato-Pancreatico-Biliary and Hernia Surgeon at Manchester Royal Infirmary, with private practice at Spire Manchester Hospital. His work includes open, laparoscopic and robotic hernia surgery alongside complex general and HPB surgery.
He has a particular interest in advanced minimally invasive surgery and regularly teaches laparoscopic inguinal hernia surgery at international surgical meetings. His hernia practice includes patients with straightforward groin hernias as well as more complex abdominal wall problems and sports-related groin pain.
His approach is centred on careful assessment, clear explanations and choosing treatment according to the individual patient rather than applying the same solution to every hernia.
Our approach
Specialist care at every stage
From diagnosis to recovery, the aim is to make your treatment journey clear, considered and appropriate for your individual circumstances.
01
Careful assessment
Your consultation begins with your symptoms, medical history and examination, with imaging arranged when it will help confirm or define the problem.
02
Clear options
You will be given a clear explanation of the diagnosis, whether treatment is needed and the advantages and limitations of the surgical options available.
03
Personalised treatment
The recommended approach considers the hernia itself alongside your health, occupation, activity level, previous surgery and personal priorities.
